Message from Prof Jak Othman

Greetings from Malaysia.

Salam hormat and Hello to all Pesilat and Martial Artists from around the world.

This Summer  18-24 July 2022, Malaysia is hosting the 2nd Malaysia International  Silat Summer Camp . After  two very successful  Summer camps, 1st staged in Malaysia in July 2018 and the 2nd staged in Florence Kentucky USA in July 2019, we were very excited to stage this event in 2020 in Malaysia. The arrival of the pandemic stopped it from happening. Finally, in 2022 we have the chance to make it happen again.

It is my pleasure to invite you to Malaysia to attend the 2nd Malaysia International Silat Summer Camp. World number ones supreme Grandmasters and high rank Grandmasters of 10 renowned Malaysia silat styles has agreed to teach at the camp. Come and train direct with the experts themselves, the Mahaguru and wakil Mahaguru.

I am proud to announce the supreme Grandmasters Mahaguru Haji Sani Zainal Abidin of Silat Kuntau Tekpi Malaysia, Wakil Mahaguru Tok Mat Putih of Silat Seni Gayong Malaysia, Wakil Mahaguru Tok Yusoff Shariff of Silat Gayung Harimau Malaysia, Wakil Mahaguru Mawlid Zaenie of Silat Gayung Fatani Malaysia, Mahaguru Nara Paduka of Sukma Kencana, Mahaguru Clifford Paulus of Sabah Gelombang Lapan Silat, Paduka Guru Johari Jantan of Silat Lincah Malaysia, Paduka Guru Hyiang Tuan Safieyan Mornie of Sika Sarawak, Guru Ammir Izzat and I of Silat Harimau berantai and Silat Tomoi are very happy  to welcome you all to Malaysia and teach at the camp.

In this  1 week long compact summer camp, these Grandmasters will  teach the fighting science of  the legendary keris , the powerful lembing ( spear),  the ruthless parang ( machete) , the deadly rantai (chain), the razor sharp pedang (sword), the underated  kapak (axe), the elusive bujak patah( broken spear),the secretive Judip ( palm stick), the world famous kerambit and the feared kapak kecil ( small axe). On top of all these, the empty hand fighting science of silat pukulan (striking) and kuncian (grappling)  will also be taught at the camp.

To celebrate the special award received on the 13 December 2020 from UNESCO to Malaysia, “Silat as the Intangible art form of our nation”,  I would like to welcome you  to my country Malaysia and train Silat direct  from the source. It is the safest country in south East Asia. The people are friendly and welcoming.  We all speak English that makes communication easy.
